The Brisbane Hooper's Map: Where to Find the Best Runs and Reps

Joseph Johnson
Basketball Trainer, Level^ Academy
Finding a court in Brisbane is easy; finding a good court is an art form. At Level^ Academy, we know that where you train dictates how you play. Whether you're looking for a high-intensity 5v5 run or a quiet suburban rim to perfect your shooting pocket, here is the definitive guide to Brisbane's basketball hotspots.
The "Open Run" Power Rankings
If you want to test your handles against the city's best, these three locations are non-negotiable.
1. UQ Multicourts (St Lucia)
The high-volume hub of Brisbane. With multiple courts and a massive student population, this is the most reliable spot for a 5v5 full-court game. The pace is fast, the transition play is constant, and the energy is always high.
2. Les Atkinson Park (Sunnybank)
Widely considered one of the most competitive outdoor spots in the city. The talent level here is deep — expect tight defensive pressure and high-IQ play. If you aren't ready to compete, you won't stay on the court long.
3. Shand Street (Stafford)
The Northside's premier destination. It's a fenced-in facility with a great surface that draws a consistent crowd every evening. It's the perfect middle ground between a casual shoot-around and a serious league-style run.
The "Hype" Spot: CBD Underpass (Turbot St)
Let's be clear: this isn't Rucker Park, and it doesn't need to be. The Turbot St Underpass is a brilliant, gritty use of urban space that has finally given the CBD a home for hoops.
Why we love it: It's undercover, meaning the Brisbane storms can't cancel your workout.
The Vibe: It provides essential access to city workers and residents who previously had nowhere to play. It's industrial, modern, and arguably the coolest place to film your skill-work or play 1v1 in the heart of the city.
The "Solo Reps" & Local Secrets
For the Level^ students in Seven Hills and the East side, these are the spots where you can put in the "dark hours" of training.
4. Rotary Park (East Brisbane)
A favorite for those working on their verticality. The rims are high-quality (dunk-ready) and the lighting is reliable for those late-night sessions after work or school.
5. Regents Park
A solid, flat surface that is rarely overcrowded. If you have a 500-make shooting goal for the day, this is the place to do it without interruption.
6. Hannah's Place (Carina/Seven Hills)
Our local neighbourhood gem. It's a quiet, community-focused court that is perfect for Level^ juniors to practice their "between-session" homework.
7. Minnipi Parkland (Cannon Hill)
Wide open and fresh. The surrounding parkland makes it a great spot for a full-body workout — combine your court work with some hill sprints for the ultimate conditioning session.
The Level^ Verdict
A court is just concrete and steel until you bring the work ethic. Whether you're under the lights at the CBD Underpass or grinding solo at Hannah's Place, remember: consistency beats talent when talent doesn't work.
